Wage and Hour Law
Federal law protects employees’ rights. The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) protects workers and ensures that they receive proper pay for all work performed. While there are many forms of wage violations the most common are:
- Improperly classifying employees as independent contractors and salary rather than hourly employees and therefore exempt from the FLSA.
- Failure to pay workers “time and a half” for overtime wages.
- In an attempt to cut costs, an astonishing number of companies require or permit employees to work “off the clock.”
